Greater Manchester Pay & Employment Rights Advice Service has advice and factsheets


The law says that your employer should make sure that you have safe and healthy working conditions, if there are more than five employees your employer needs to have a Health and Safety Policy and to make the employees aware of it.

The sorts of things that are covered by the law are:

  • noise at work
  • hazardous substances
  • manual handling
  • use of VDUs (computer terminals)
  • repetitive strain injury
  • fire safety
  • toilets and washing facilities
  • temperature.
