Essential Guides

Essential Guides to the Quality Standards for Young People’s Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG)

Who are they for?

Staff in schools, colleges, work based learning providers and other organisations working with young people who have responsibility for, or are involved in, the delivery of careers education and IAG.

What are they?

The Essential Guide sessions are a series of half day courses aimed at providing practitioners with a basic knowledge of IAG and careers education to enable them to work effectively with their client group, and to help their organisation meet the requirements of the Quality Standards.

Attendance at the sessions will be locally accredited. To qualify for accreditation you must attend four of the eight Essential Guides, one of which must be a core session.
