Do nothing yet! Except decide which course(s) you are interested in. We will send further information and an application form, to all schools, colleges and other agencies (where appropriate), four weeks prior to each event. Applications will be required to be returned within a specified time and confirmation letters (or ‘sorry no places left’) will be sent out at least two weeks before the course.
As there will be a limited number of places on each course, places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
N.B. All courses are free of charge and designed for staff in schools, colleges, work based learning providers and other organisations working with young people.
Connexions staff are encouraged to attend suitable courses with the agreement of their line manager.
Courses are costly and often oversubscribed. So that we can offer spare places to delegates on the waiting list, we require at least 72 hours notice of cancellation.
Organisations whose staff give little or no notice without good reason will not be prioritised for future training courses.
If you are unable to attend a course for which you have applied, please contact the Development Team Administrator on 0161 245 4871.
We will endeavour to spread the provision of courses across our whole area. However, location is often affected by the size of venue, the suitability of facilities and transport links.
Applications for courses are not, therefore, restricted to staff working in the area where the course is located.
Supply cover is provided for the following courses:
• All the modules of the Diploma in Career Education;
• The Essential Guide series.
For the above courses we will reimburse supply cover costs to schools and colleges on a fixed rate basis of half-day = £70; one day = £140.
The procedure for re-claiming supply cover is as follows:
1. Pay for the supply teacher, to the organisation or individual, whichever is applicable.
2. Return the CLAIM FORM, which will be given out to those attending each course. Please note, that in order to claim cover, the institution must send proof, with an invoice to Better Choices Ltd, that the amount has actually been expended.
3. Supply cover can only be paid if the claim is submitted within two months of the course date.
